If you are (or will soon be) working in Washington, DC, finding the best place to live can be a challenge. Picking a community in the DC Metro area, like Downtown Bethesda or Potomac Village, is the first step, and from there you need to figure out which neighborhood is the best fit.
Though many of the neighborhoods in DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland are top picks and offer a range of amenities and luxury homes, these five are our favorites. Here’s why.
5. Avenel — Potomac, MD
Avenel is a large luxury neighborhood that is known for its TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm golf course (home of the 2017 Quicken Loans National). It also has its own equestrian center with bridle paths, 3 community pools, and quick access to Potomac Village shopping center.
Why We Love It: If you want it all in one place, Avenel has it.
4. Rockshire — Rockville, MD
This neighborhood has more than 750 houses and townhomes, all close to excellent schools, the Fallsgrove Village Center, and I-270. Its amenities include a 25-meter lap pool, kiddie pool, competitive swim team, tennis courts, and nearby parks and playgrounds.
Why We Love It: Rockshire is somehow secluded and convenient. It’s perfect.
3. Fallsgrove — Rockville, MD
Home buyers love the choice of condos, houses, and patio homes. Fallsgrove is located right behind the Fallsgrove Village Center, making it easy to run errands. And its amenities make it even more appealing: trails, a pool with a swim team, open green space, and a community center.
Why We Love It: Nothing beats living steps from a popular shopping center.
2. Potomac Glen — Potomac & Rockville, MD
Want to play tennis or relax at the pool? Choose a house (or a townhome) in Potomac Glen and you’ll live close to the amenities and minutes from the Fallsgrove Village Center. This neighborhood is assigned to schools in the sought-after Winston Churchill High School cluster!
Why We Love It: It’s a large, beautiful community where neighbors can get to know each other.
1. The Willows of Potomac — Rockville, MD
Our favorite Potomac-area neighborhood has a tennis court, play areas, open spaces, a pool, and a fitness center. And across the street is the Universities at Shady Grove campus, restaurants, and a Giant grocery store. The 700+ homes often have hardwood floors, granite countertops, and garages.
Why We Love It: What isn’t close to this neighborhood?
