Winter Lights Festival
This winter season, head out to Gaithersburg for their 23rd annual Winter Lights Festival! Held in the beautiful Seneca Creek State Park, the festival will features thousands of twinkling lights and hundreds of dazzling displays that light up the winter sky.
With over 450 displays to see total, the Winter Lights Festival is a great way to get in the holiday spirit. Grab a cup of hot cocoa, turn on some holiday music, and enjoy the sights from the warmth of your car. The Winter Lights Festival will run until the end of the month, but it is closed on Christmas Day, so there’s plenty of time to get out to the event!
Main Street Holiday Market
On Sunday the 8th, the Gaithersburg Farmer’s Market will transform into a festive holiday market. In addition to the usual wares of the farmer’s market, there will also be unique handmade holiday gifts and fresh seasonal produce!
Take in special events like glass blowing tutorials, live festive performances, appearances from several iconic holiday figures, and more. Plus, if you bring along all of those holiday gifts that you haven’t wrapped yet, you can get them gift-wrapped at the market for free!
Die Hard Anniversary Party
It’s one of the most controversial questions of the holiday season…is Die Hard a Christmas movie or not? Regardless of what your personal opinion may be, the Die Hard 30th Anniversary Film & Brew Party is sure to be a uniquely festive community event.
Community members are encouraged to wear their best ugly Christmas sweater, and prizes will be given away for the best outfits! The event is recommended for ages 17 and up, and tickets can be purchased both online and on the day of the event.
Holiday Festival at the Fitzgerald
One of the best free holiday events in the DC Metro area, the Holiday Festival at the Fitzgerald is filled with live music, festive decorations, and tasty food and drink. Sit back and enjoy performances from groups like The Heavenly Handbells of Trinity Lutheran Church, Heart of Maryland Chorus, and the Victorian Lyric Opera Company.
Even though the event is free, seating is limited, so make sure you get there early enough to reserve a spot! The festival will take place at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre on December 15th.
